Cleaning egr if blanking off ?

Hi gang,

I read elsewhere that one should clean the egr valve before blanking oit off. This has confused me.

If its blanked off, is it not then out of use ? Does it matter then if clean or dirty ?

If you are going to blank it off it doesnt matter whether its clean or dirty,but personally I would clean it and not blank it off
