So I have been thinking that if I'm going to get into laning more, I should get a cb.
Was looking at this http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B006GQF0SY

Was wondering what's involved in fitting and what else do I need?
Many thanks.

personally pirate id have a look round for 2nd hand models, you tend to get a much better system for much less $$$

theres a guy near me sells a few systems, ill get an idea on what the decent ones are going for now (i know its not a lot) for ya

on top of that youll need an aerial to mount onto the truck, mines on the rear wheel mount on the back door, again got for a decent 2nd hand one id say.

From experience id say dont go near a magmounted one, they scratch the paint and can blow off in high wind.

Its also worth having an external speaker for shouting at people, if nothing else.....its funny.

Dead easy, will put some links ,this site is good
http://www.4x4cb.com/
Good price, good service, mention club member and may get discount too.

CB
Antenna usually 1.5m tall (springer) come in various colours and makes
Coax(thats your cable from cb to antenna.
Easier to wire seperate than plumbing into aux or cig lighter.
Feed wire through grommet in bulk head(comes out behind glove box, just under carpet)
Get a din unit, this will fit like a stereo then as cb are smaller than your stereo din size
4w(power) is legal, any more not ,but 4w is more than enough for laning

I went for the ss orbital

http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=1734

I used a mirror mount(for a truck) and fixed to crate, can get gutter mounts or mag mounts(stick to roof by magnet)so can be removed.

Also SWR meter to tune it in
http://www.4x4cb.com/public/item.cfm?itemID=823

Fit in line fuse near battery and run to cb as you would a stereo, coax in back(just same as an aerial in stereo)but screw fitting.

SWR bit
http://www.pocuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=132239

My cb Shocked  iirc about 30-35 delivered off bay
http://www.pocuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=126496

Antenna(aerial)
http://www.pocuk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1181011&sid=63e75445918d055fdce9e531052175d3

Just ran coax under carpet  retainers, floor mats, centre console etc so out of sight

Moved to side now as easier to put stuff on crate............3 times a year Laughing

If not sure i have no probs fitting it for you Wink i do charge £0 an hour though Laughing

Laughing  Laughing nah serious though if you want fitting will do,not a prob at all,you need to decide on cb,once that done where its going to be mounted, some mount on side of centre console,me i fitted under stereo where cubby box was.

Thats using a din unit to fit it in as small

I'll probably have to go in the storage hole under the cubby where you have the gauges.
I threw a double din head unit into mine.

mmmmmmmm is it same as in metal,if so the trany tunnel and depth(cb are small but long)will struggle a tad fitting in there as that was my plan.I gave up after 20mins of trying to remove that metal panel, but with stereo out i clocked not much room.

Other option is pass side or they fit nicely in the little gap at side of console too. They have brackets supplied with cbs,so could mount on roof,to side, too anywhere in reason Wink

Have a look in the cb section bit for ideas Wink

In that case might have to try to build a roof console.

both on a par but thunderpole is better known, go for a longer aerial though or venn will take the mick Laughing  Laughing
the mirror mount should fit your crate but measure it first, the mag mounts are a thieves dream round here Rolling Eyes

have a chat with them when you get there, they don't do bull and won't try and sell ya the latest unit, they will talk a glass eye to sleep about cb's though Laughing
