Here's a belter for anyone who can help.
Changing my stereo at weekend, but no power to new stereo. Checked leads and no supply, all fuses OK but 80A link on Battery +ve lead was blown, so replaced. All other fuses are OK but here are the symptoms I have;
1.Drivers door doesn't activate central locking externally, only when ignition is on. And then only from inside the vehicle.
2. No power to sunroof or courtesy lights
3. No power on central temperature display unit(this keeps blowing fuses)
4. Each time ignition is switched on it trips the odometer to zero!

Dont Know.
But seem to have read on here somewhere that if you disconnect the battery, go for a cofee and fa ciggy (both if two) it resets many things.
Moral of story disconnect battery(s) before doing electrics, |

Not saying it is, coz u got a different model to me, but the symptoms are very similar to mine when the 10A accessory fuse blew. No courtesy lights, central locking, radio, clock, and heater forgets its setting each time u turn off.

Hi GR
You shorted something putting that radio in. As already implied maybe one of the other fuses is open, did you do a visual check or use a meter or lamp to confirm? Also you can check if the live side of the fuse holder has power as well as the fused side as you may have to go looking upstream in the circuit.
If you keep blowing fuses in a circuit, connect a 12V 21W indicator lamp instead of the fuse. The lamp will glow brightly if there is a short. Disconnect devices until the lamp goes out, this indicates where the current drain is. |
