Our tyre fitters are at the bottom of the wage scale. Are you sure you want to believe them? Most think you use the pressure printed on the side of the tyre. DUH!

Hi there,

I posted a formula for working out your exact tyre pressure.

2 bar is 2x14.7psi or 29.4psi
1.8 bar is 1.8 x 14.7 or 26.4 psi.

You are close.

My approach is to start off with the pressures recommended in whatever source you choose. Then watch how your tyre wear develops. If the center of the tread is wearing quicker, reduce the pressure a little. If the shoulders wear quicker, raise the pressure a little. This method will give you tyre pressures that suit your individual useage pattern for the vehicle, and should maximise the mileage that you get from each tyre.

PostPosted: Fri Jun 23, 2006 21:38    Post subject: lunar solar 524 single axle tyre pressure? Reply with quote

Hi chaps

Ive had about 7 vans before my current lunar solar 524 singlel axle but they were all 14 footers with tyre pressures around 30psi.

I just looked in the hand book and its telling me to put 55 psi in my tyres.

The tyres are ContinentalContrans 165R13C 4 ply and it says on the tyre
Maxload 1360lb AT 55psi Cold

So I guess its right. Do any of you chaps run your caravan single axle tyres at such high pressures.

Cheers
John

My van's laden weight is 1300kg and it runs on 6-ply tyres. The design pressure is 51psi.
What is your van's laden weight and I wonder if 4-ply tyres are ok?

Hi

All I can say is that all the tyres ( 2 on van and spare) are the same and I am told by the chap I bought it from they were on from new.

The vans laden weight is approx 1300 and although the hand book says the spec is 6 ply the 4 plys are rated for greater than 1300kg and 55psi as is on the tyres themselve.

This is confusing Rolling Eyes
